December Activities

December is always full of fun!! We are super busy with a million activities. So here are some of our favorites!

Ward Party kicked off the month.

Every year we go to Luminaria. It is Mom's favorite event and it was fun to go with the Webbs this year.

Dad took the best photo at Luminaria!

Love this tradition!

Mom and Dad love the lights.

It is a ton of fun.

It's nice to have someone to take a family photo.

We love walking through the Jesus statues and now the Tree of Life.

It was a fun night!

Mom takes pictures everywhere.

Luminaria 2026 was perfect!

Mom liked some of the fun spots we visited. This is a photo she liked of the lights.

Mom and Dad visited the Grand America on a bus tour.

Also this one, where she had to make the craft since the kids were sick and didn't come.

Mom at the Ogden Dinosaur Park.

We were invited to enjoy the ZooLights at Hogle Zoo! It was a nice evening with lights, but very few animals, which made the boys sad. Even the small animal building was closed, so there was nowhere to warm up. We still had plenty of fun.

The boys were pretty good sports about all the Christmas activities.

Dax is getting so tall! And his wing span is almost that of a bald eagle.

Seth thought about staying in the eagles nest.

Mom and Dad are always looking for fun photo spots.

Another activity we were invited to do was to visit Santa and his reindeer at Jordan Landing. The reindeer were beautiful, and the Santa was fabulous. He teased the boys just enough.

Little Soldiers

Mom and Seth were the biggest fans of the reindeer

We even got a picture!

Mom is Dating a lot now

Randy and I ended up going on a lot of dates in November and December. Partially because kids didn't want to come on certain activities, and partially because some of the events were just for couples. Luckily ,we love spending time together, so we had a great few months dating a lot!

We went to Disney on Ice and realized that we had both worn our hockey team gear.

We went to check out the new Thirst!

We went on a bus tour of Christmas lights in SLC with a stop at The Grand America.

Afterward we went for a nice steak dinner.

And then we got caught in the rain!

We went to see Nate Bargatze and had floor seats. It was amazing and hilarious!

Last show of 2025 at The Ruth--Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

We walked through Temple Square.

We were invited to the Tabernacle Choir concert and it was magical!

The boys weren't feeling well, so they waited in the car while we did a quick walk through at Dinos in the Snow.
We also got a pic with The Grinch!

We went on a Christmas lights drive together!

Christmas Trees

There was no snow, but we still had fun!

Quite honestly, we are getting tired of cutting Christmas trees off the mountain. We love the tradition, the family time, four-wheelers, sledding, and food, but tromping cutting, and dealing with a mountain tree are kind of a pain. Sometimes it's hard to find a good one, and sometimes what looks good on the mountain isn't good when you get home. But, dutifully, we climbed the mountain and cut three trees this year-- 2 for us, and 1 for Nat's sister.

There was no snow, but we did find a pond frozen over for some ice skating!

The boys were brave and walked all the way across.

The boys are becoming big helpers with the trees.

Dax hauled the trees for us!

We had a great time, and it actually seemed like we found three pretty good trees pretty fast. We took a few dozen donuts and watched them get eaten up by family. Then Dad let Seth and Dax drive the four-wheelers (with him on the back). Dax went too fast which scared Dad, and Seth only drove off the road once when he got excited and accidentally grabbed the thumb accelerator too tightly.

Of course, after we drove off the mountain, we stopped for pizza and to see how the Ephraim Temple is coming along. It's supposed to open in the Spring of 2026.

Dax rode with Nate for a bit, too!

The boys love riding the four wheelers.

Dad and Seth had a lot of fun!

The temple is coming along very well.

That evening Glen dropped off the trees. Mom and Dad got the basement tree put in and it was beautiful. We got the lights on and it was already to decorate for Sunday. Then Dad stood up the large living room tree. It was so heavy on one side that it was impossible to get straight. It had a massive hole, and only about 1/4 of it was usable. Mom said, "Well, we'll put that in the corner and make the best of it." But Dad was having none of that. He knew that tree would never stand without being chained to the wall like a prisoner. So, he chopped the top 3 feet off and set it up in Seth's room. Then, we hopped in the van to go get a "real" real Christmas tree.

The basement tree was just right!

The top of our tree that wouldn't work, which went to Seth's room.

Seth decorated his tree very nicely.

Our first stop was a big tree farm in Lehi. The cheapest 10 foot tree was over $300! There was no way we were buying one of those trees, though they were nice. Next we tried a small local farm in west Lehi, but the trees were $75 and not much nicer than the monstrosity we'd topped for Seth's room.

Finally, Dad said, "They had really nice trees at that little farm in Spanish Fork that invited us to visit. Let's go there." But they closed in 35 minutes, and the map said it was 32 minutes away. We called and they said they'd let us buy a tree that very night. Their trees were way more reasonably priced, even for the bigger ones, and they were by far the most beautiful. We looked at half a dozen that seemed amazing, and then Dad picked up an absolutely gorgeous tree. It was perfect on every side. Thick, dark green branches were exactly even. It was as if it had been created to be the tree for our house. We happily paid and got it tied on top of the van, and it was only 10 minutes after closing time.

They even helped us put the tree on the van!

It really is a perfect tree. Everyone thinks it is fake!

Dad easily got that tree up in the living room. Now he makes sure that it is plugged in every time he's in the house. He calls it the Livvy Dunne tree because it is so beautiful, (and also to annoy the boys). He even swore that he was going to buy a "real" real tree every year! I guess we'll see what happens next November!

Oh, and Seth loved having his own personal Christmas tree to fall asleep under each night!

Thanksgiving at Grandma's

Thanksgiving was back to our normal visit with Grandma and Grandpa this year, although there were many times we all said, "We should have gone back to Hawaii for Thanksgiving." Maybe another year.

We stopped at Peach City on our way up to Blackfoot.

Stephanie and her family came from North Dakota, and Melanie was there, too (without kids), and of course, Brittany and Grandma and Grandpa! So we had lots of fun just being together.

James wanted everyone to do pushups.

Then he did his own!

He also read this book 8000 times with Mom.

We went to see Zootopia 2 because we love the little theater in Blackfoot. It has become a tradition. Grandpa spoiled us all with drinks and popcorn. And the movie was cute.

Later that afternoon, we all went outside to help Grandpa winterize the yard. He had a heart attack a week or so before, so we were all yelling at him to stop doing things. We picked up rotting apples, covered tables and chairs, moved things into the shed, and cleaned up a lot of leaves. The kids were great helpers.

The movie crew.

Cleaning up the yard.

Always finding selfies on my phone.

Shouldn't leave my camera lying around. Even these two took a selfie.

Thanksgiving was a nice day, too. Mom made Alfajores in honor of Mark's favorite treat from Argentina. We enjoyed lots of our favorite dishes, and yummy pies. We also sat around and played games and watched football and basketball. The kids watch Blackbeard's Ghost, which is their favorite Thanksgiving tradition.

We headed back on Friday so we could be ready for Christmas trees. See our next post with info about that adventure!

The Alfajores were yummy.

Mom was so excited to try them.

Always taking selfies.

The kids table.

Grandma and Grandpa keep this picture of Mark and Daniel around so they can be part of the action.

Watching BYU win!

Our traditional picture.

Playing games!!
