Heber City Day 3

We still had one long day left in Heber, and we slept in until nine o'clock. That put us at breakfast really late. The majority of the day was spent at Wasatch Mountain State Park, and we started with omelets, french toast, and pancakes at the golf course. We did really well with this meal, even though we hadn't felt hungry for days.
We really enjoyed watching the hummingbirds while we waited for our food.
The boys were slightly afraid of the barn swallows.
This is Seth's kind of meal!
Dad probably needed a few more hours of sleep.
Mark is also a fan of breakfast foods.
Back at the Visitor Center we picked up the Junior Ranger booklets and then we tried a hike. It was a three and a half miler, and the first half was all uphill. But the boys are great hikers and they were working on their booklets along the way. We saw some birds including a sharp-shinned hawk, a spotted towhee, and some wild turkeys, which was exciting. The hike ended at a glacial moraine field. There were massive boulders stacked up that the boys hopped and played on.
Our boys love doing the Junior Ranger programs.
I like how this picture turned out with the flowers and Dax running through them.
We needed a break. This hike was an uphill climb.
It was mostly shady, and we loved all the benches for resting.
There were also lots of bridges, which make every hike more enjoyable.
The boys thought this tree living in the small stream was unique.
The end of the hike is a field of boulders!
Seth enjoyed climbing around in the rocks.
We had to spend a few minutes in Huber Grove to finish our Junior Ranger booklets. We like the historic buildings and the old orchards. Next we fed ducks back at the Visitor Center and turned in our Junior Ranger booklets. Then we headed into Heber for the final items on our itinerary. First was lunch, and we went to the best restaurant of all. The boys didn't eat much, but Mom and Dad really enjoy the lighter fare. They had really incredible gelato, too!
Huber Grove is nice and shady.
More bridge pictures.
The boys laughed at the animal sounds in the Visitor Center.
Some of the ducks ate right out of our hands.
Wasatch Mountain State Park is really pretty.
Dad didn't make it. He fell asleep while we waited to turn in our Junior Ranger books. This trip is wearing him out.
The boys did like the spin fries.
Dax will always eat a quesadilla.
Mark saved room for chocolate gelato.
One rare family photo at the Spin Cafe.
Our agenda didn't have us doing much in the afternoon, so we decided to check out the pool in Heber City. We ended up spending over two hours, and we all had fun. They had a lot of different things to do. The boys enjoyed playing basketball and being dragged around by Dad on a large floating crocodile. We also checked out the gauntlets. Seth liked when Dad took him on the deep water slide, even though he went all the way under the water by several feet, he never panicked and came up smiling. We enjoyed the pool and came out with better attitudes after our long hot hike.
We had so much fun at this pool.
The boys splashed around the floating obstacle courses.
Seth was so brave about trying them out, too.
This pool had more to do than just swim!
Dad helped Seth on the big toy in deep water.
They had to make a swim for it!
We also spent quite a while playing basketball.
There were 3 balls, which was perfect for the three boys.
We also liked the floating alligators.
Our last adventure was at Heber City Park. Heber has a party in the park on Thursdays. There is a concert and booths set up all around the perimeter. We walked around and picked up a snowcone, but none of us had the least interest in any food. Dax and Seth found a booth where they were advertising gymnastics. They practiced with a really nice coach for about ten minutes, and she was great with the kids. Both the boys were laughing, and the rest of us were laughing just watching them. We waited around until the concert started so that we could put a little music on our social media, but none of us were much interested in the band, so we left shortly afterward. We were home by seven o'clock. Now we're ready for a three day fast before we can eat again!
Seth was all smiles during the little gymnastics trial.
It was so hot that everyone needed a snowcone!
We found a tiny spot of shade for the show.
Mark also picked up a free soda somewhere. Dax and Mark love soda!
