October Fun

October was a fun and busy month. Mom turned 40 and that was a big birthday in the Ockey Home. We also took a trip to Vernal for Fall Break and had a Happy Halloween. You can read about all of those adventures on their own posts. This post is for all the small fun activities we had throughout October.

First, October started with a bang at the Pinewood Derby. Dax worked so hard on his car and was so excited to race it. His car didn't take 1st place, but it did well and he was a great sport cheering for his friends. Seth also made a car, and couldn't wait for the end when they let siblings race. It was a fun night!
Dax painted and designed his Pinewood Derby all by himself.
It was fun to watch the kids be so excited about each race!
Dax's car took first place this race!
Seth loved his car!
Mom loved watching Seth and Dax as buddies all night long.
There were lots of other fun outings, and we had a good time laughing about taking school pictures and how they put your neck in this weird angle. Mom was cracking up at the boys' impressions of the photographers. We also took family pictures and traveled to Hurricane for a baseball tournament. The boys and Mom went to a new park and checked out the Witches at Gardner Village. We had a wonderful October, and even bought a new car!
Dad and Mom love going to the Hale together.
Baseball tournaments all year long.
We have to do outdoor things even between baseball games!
Mark's team is such a great group of boys.
Grandma and Grandpa did a mystery box with us.
We took the Halloween Cruise on the Provo River.
Seth's impersonation of school pictures.
Dax had to show his school picture experience, too.
And Mark was mostly laughing by the time we got to him.
Erin Pritchett, our good friend, took our family pictures.
Waiting in the van while Dad test drives new cars.
The baseball witches were our favorite.
We enjoy the witch scavenger hunt every year.
This picture of Seth cracks me up!
Dax wanted to swing with Mom on the baby and mom swings. Can you see Seth in the back?
Mom and Dad went on a special date with Seth to see Junie B. Jones, the Musical. It was so fun!
Seth took this amazing picture of Grandma!

Halloween 2019

Halloween was during the coldest week of the year. It was freezing! So cold that most of the time, the kids stayed in during recess. It was record breaking temperatures, but we still managed to have a a fun Halloween week.

We began by carving pumpkins. The boys love to carve pumpkins, but do not always love cleaning out the pumpkins. Mom and Dad helped them get started, but they all designed and carved their own pumpkins. They did a great job, and Dad even carved his little white pumpkin.
Our boys love carving pumpkins.
Seth always wants a scary pumpkin.
Dax created this dead pumpkin. It was so good!
Mark used some printouts to draw the Buffalo Bils logo.
And the BYU logo on the other side.
Dad made the Manti Temple. They all turned out amazing!
We also had tickets to go to Cornbelly's on the coldest day of the week, but it was our only open day, so we headed out there anyway. Despite the cold, we had a lot of fun. When the sun was up, we did as much as we could and enjoyed all the new activities Cornbelly's has added since we last visited. Once the sun was down, it got cold fast. We ran as quickly as we could when they said they were handing out free hot chocolate. It warmed us up, and we stayed a bit longer, but we didn't last too long before we decided we had had enough freezing toes and went to grab dinner.
We haven't been to Cornbelly's for a few years so we were all excited to go!
The theme this year was wizards.
We love the big slides.
Our boys loved wormed through the tiny rat maze, and Dad tried it, too. He barely made it out!
Crazy tilted houses!
There were lots of cute cutouts for pictures throughout Cornbelly's.
Our boys enjoyed the dog show.
We spent the most time in this section. Throwing baseballs, footballs, and basketballs is what makes them happy.
We splurged and let them do the airguns. They had so much fun!
Dax's pig won the race, so he earned a pig nose!
Thank goodness for hot chocolate!
Mom and Dad rode in the love carriage!
Halloween was a little bit warmer, but not much. Mom saw Seth in his Halloween parade and helped in Dax's class party. That night, Mark took Dax and Seth trick or treating while Mom and Dad stayed home to man the door. They got a lot of candy before they came home to warm up. Mark went to a get together with friends and they went around trick or treating again before they came back and played games at his friend's house. It was a great baseball Halloween!
Dax was excited that the Nationals won the World Series the night before!

Seth was Alex Cora (the Red Sox manager).
Mom had fun helping at the Halloween party in Dad's class.
We went with a baseball theme this year!
Mark got driven around with his friends for his second round through the neighborhood.
Mark really has a great group of friends.
He got TOO much candy!
