January Fun

We enjoyed our January Fun posts so much last year in 2019, that we decided to keep the posts going this year! January was a LONG month. We didn't get out and adventure as much as we hoped, but we played a lot of basketball and still had fun being together!

Every year, we take a day trip to Ephraim to see the Bald Eagles! We look forward to it every year. This year we spotted quite a few eagles, including this juvenile who had unfortunately been hit by a car. The local wildlife official were called to help it out. But we loved getting a close look at him.
Poor birdie.
It was a beautiful day for seeing eagles.
We love seeing these majestic birds.
We are strong supporters of the Buffalo Bills even though they aren't very good.
We got invited to visit the Ice Castles and we decided to visit during the day this year. We love walking through and seeing all of the new ice creations. There were a few extra slides and a cool waterfall this year.
We have been to the Midway Ice Castles almost every single year.
This ice formation was so neat.
The boys love crawling in all the tunnels.
Everyone was tall enough for the big slide!
Dax spent a little bit of time in ice jail.
We accidentally climbed up a slide which was really hilarious!
Dad is such a fun picture taker!
Mom bundles up like crazy when we visit the Ice Castles.
Seth with his friends reading books in class.
We haven't been to the Natural History Museum in a little while, so we were excited to visit during Dino Fest. There were lots of extra fossils and displays set up. Our favorite part was being able to go into the paleontology lab and talk to the paleontologists and see what they were working on. We also enjoyed walking through this cool museum from top to bottom.
Dax and Seth liked this allosaurs fossil.
Inside the paleontology lab, we got up close to the fossils.
Dad made friends with one of the scientists who told him he needed to volunteer!
The boys love all the living creatures in the museum, too.
Seth loves playing in the kid area.
We had a great time at Dino Fest.
Dax Update: We wrote a whole post about Dax's injury, but we wanted to update everyone on his knee. We went in to have his stitches taken out 10 days after they were put in, but much to Dax's dismay, they decided to leave them in for 3 more days. Then when we returned after 3 days, they took the stitches out, and thought we better glue it together just to make sure. So we went ahead and glued it up.

The bad news came about 5 days later when Dax slipped at school on the blacktop and opened the wound back up again. He was very concerned that he was going to need stitches again. Dad and Mom decided that it was mostly healed and should be okay. So we kept bandaids on the cut, as well as an extra wrap around it for a few weeks. Now, it finally looks like it is closed and going to heal. He will have a huge scar, but we knew that from the get go. It only took 6 weeks to get this far!
After 10 days of stitches, the stitches stayed in.
Dax was so hopeful about getting his stitches out, but he took it like a champ when the doctor said they had to stay in.
This is after 2 weeks of stitches. The stitches came out, but glue went in. See how it's a little open the left?
Dax said that getting glue hurt. Mostly because the doctor had to squeeze the injury tight together.
