Pinewood Derby

Nice Smile Dax!
I was looking through our photos from last year and realized that we never shared about Dax's Pinewood Derby. Due to the end of Cub Scouts, there won't be too many of these left, so we need to document them now. Dax designed and built his car with a little help from Uncle Glen and from Dad. The car turned out awesome!
Dax was so excited to watch all the races!
Dax consistently placed second in most of his races, but had a great time. Dax ended up taking 5th place overall which is definitely the best that any Ockey car has ever done, and was awarded the Best Homemade Car. We kind of laughed at that award because aren't all of these cars homemade? But it's okay because it was a great night!
Dax was proud of his car.
He got a racecar made out of candy!
Seth was determined to race Mark's old pinewood derby car, and luckily he got a chance at the end of the meet. It didn't go very far since most of the weights have been pulled off and used for more recent cars, but he was just happy to send it down the track. Mark also made a car for a youth activity, so all the boys were happy. Mark's car was a Red Sox Car and raced pretty fast. Mom didn't get pictures of these last two events. Oops!
Dax Ockey = 5th place!

Jazz Game

Every year our boys receive Jazz tickets in their stocking. It has become a tradition that they love. We always look forward to going to the Jazz game as a family.

This year the Jazz were playing the Knicks. The last few years we have been to games against the Thunder and Dad and the boys love booing Russell Westbrook. They were a little disappointed they wouldn't have anyone to boo this year until Enes Kanter walked onto the court. He used to play for the Jazz, but after leaving said some pretty nasty things about the team. No one in Utah was happy about that. The whole stadium erupted in loud boos anytime Kanter touched the ball, and the Jazz kept him from scoring at all. Dad and the boys loved it!
The boys love going to sporting events!
Every seat in the house is a good one.
The Jazz played well and there were some great highlights. The Jazz Bear showed up in our section and shot confetti at us. The boys thought it was amazing and even brought home some pieces of confetti as souvenirs. Gobert had more dunks that game than I've seen in awhile. Favors hit two 3-pointers in a row and I didn't even think he could shoot that far. He is Dax's favorite player so that was really exciting. Seth and I went to get popcorn and found out that everyone got a free popcorn and drink since we had Junior Jazz tickets, which made everyone happy except Mark. Luckily, Dax had given Mark some Jazz noise makers for Christmas so he was happy the whole game.
Dax did not want to take this picture with Mom.
Surprise Jazz Bear!
Seth and Dax LOVE popcorn!
Go Jazz Go!
The best part was that the game started at 6:00, and even though we had to hustle to get there on time after eating at Red Robin on the way, we were able to get the kids home to bed a little after 9:00. It was a win for the Jazz and a win for the Ockeys. We can't wait to go next year!!
It was a great game!
Jazz win!
