New York Day 14

Dax's team ended up being 9th out of 50 teams after pool play. There were 8 teams that went undefeated, including the one that naroowly beat us. This was important because of the way they seed the tournament. As the 9th seed, we have to beat the winner of the 24-25 game. Then we play the 8, 1, 5, and 2 seeds. That means we have to win only 5 games, and our pitchers are pretty fresh. Best of all, it meant that we didn't have to play until 7 o'clock tonight.

Our cute home in New York.
We went down to the river trail again.
It is such a peaceful little spot

We decided to check Dax out and take him on a Church History adventure. We drove an hour down to the home of Joseph Knight. This site is not run by the Church, but it was still pretty cool. Two docents in period clothing took us through the house that the Knight Family lived in. Most of the house was original, but the tour was basically a tribute to the Knight Family, who supported Joseph and Emma. It was special to be in a house that Joseph and Emma definitely lived in.

This is the Joseph Knight home.

Joseph worked here and would have go in and out the back door, so we were excited to stand in a spot he most definitely walked--original floor, too!

The view of the property was pretty.

Mark is getting so tall.

The docents then took us a few miles up the road to the Josiah Stowell Mansion. This house was much bigger and seemed way more modern than the Knight home. This site was more of a tribute to the Smiths, as they spent their honeymoon in the upstairs bedroom, and lived in this area known as the Colesville Branch for a while. They even had the mantlepiece that the Smith's stood in front of when they were married.

Our tour guides were amazing.
Joseph and Emma Smith were married right here.
Seth liked these replica golden plates.

After the tours, we picked up some ice cream on the way back to the house. It was good, but maybe not quite as good as the last place we stopped.

Dax had his first tournament game tonight. They played well and beat the 24 seed, which happened to be the same team we beat on the first night. Next, the Barons will play in the 8-9 game of the final 16.

Ice Cream is Dax's favorite treat.
Back to the fields we go!
