New Kitchen Table (with bonus expenses)

When Natalie and Randy first got married, they had only a card table in their furnished apartment. One day, Randy sneaked off and bought a brand new kitchen table. That table has been great, but it was starting to show some water damage, and was in need of replacement. We'd talked about replacing it for over a year, when one day, Natalie saw one she liked on her friend's wholesale furniture account on Instagram. We drove over and took a look, and it seemed just right. We got it put in and assembled, and we are loving it. We even gave the old table to Jason so the Webb kids have a place to eat when they are at his house. The only problem with the new table was that it didn't come with chairs.

The new table is nice and smooth!

Still using the old chairs...

We decided to head up to the furniture stores and see what we could find. Unfortunately, all the new chairs have two annoying problems. First, they are covered with cloth. Second, they are poorly built. We didn't want any "delicate" chairs, but we did see a nice sofa on the way out. It was a huge sectional that would look great in the basement. We decided to file that information away and headed for the door. Right by the door was another great sofa set, this one with a sofa, love seat, and chair. That would be perfect to replace the worn red couches in our living room.

Long story short, we gave away the upstairs couches to a neighbor and the downstairs sectional to Nat's sister, so the Webbs have a place to sit when they are at her house. The new couches arrived on schedule for upstairs, but there was a problem with the sectional. It wouldn't fit through the door.

New couches for upstairs.

We love the new couches.

Dad got his friend Ryan to come over, and they started smashing things. They broke the door out of the basement wall, which widened the entry way. This project had been on Dad's mind for awhile anyway, especially since he found out the door was put in too narrow for code (it was actually a bathroom door). Of course, that meant drywall, painting, and adding baseboards back to the basement entryway.

This is the too narrow doorway.

Now it is all gone.
All fixed and beautiful!

During this time, we were also finishing our chrome kits in the bathrooms. We got this all changed out by a handyman, but unfortunately, he cracked a pipe, which meant cutting a hole in the drywall of the master bedroom! This was another project that ended up being a bit bigger than expected, but we are finally getting everything in order in time for Christmas!

There was a bit of drama when we were told that the replacement sectional couldn't be delivered for 2 months after they gave the other one away! Luckily, they managed to find one so we didn't have to sit on the floor for 60 days!

The new couch has so much more seating and is super comfy!!

We also got a lovely new rug to go with our couch.

Mom's feet can't touch the ground when she sits on the new couch!
