Mirror Lake Day 2

We woke up before seven o’clock on Monday morning. It wasn’t long before Mom had pancakes going and we enjoyed a delicious breakfast in the woods complete with strawberry syrup. Everything always tastes better at camp!

We immediately loaded up and drove just down the road to Lofty Lake Loop. This is a four mile trail, but we had no idea how steep it was! There is nearly a thousand foot climb from the trail head to the highest point. It was a steady climb for three miles before we dropped sharply back to the trailhead. Still, the lakes were deep blue and ice cold. We passed Kamas Lake, Lofty Lake, and Scout Lake and saw several other lakes off in the distance. It really was beautiful, but it was a little more beautiful when we looked back on it.

We always enjoy an early morning hike.

This trail was hardwork and steep.

Mom and Dad love taking pics together.

There were lots of little ponds and lakes on this hike.

Mom loved these purple flowers.

Kamas Lake was so pretty.

Mom is always covering everyone in sunscreen.

Kamas Lake was the first lake, so we were the most excited to see it.

Mirror Lake Highway is the best.

Dad staged this amazing picture.

We finally made it to Lofty Lake!

After a quick sandwich lunch back at camp, we put the boats in the truck and drove down to the lake. The boys had fun splashing around, and Dad went for a “shower” in the lake, but it was a little cooler and windier today, so we only spent an hour or two. Then we lazed around camp for a while. Mark and Dad did a trail run and saw a family of weasels while Dax and Mom threw rocks in the lake.

For dinner, we did hotdogs, hamburgers, and green beans over the fire. Then the kids roasted s’mores again. Finally we played cards until dark.

The boys were so excited to kayak at Mirror Lake.

It was a little windy and chilly.

Seth and Dad went out to swim for a bit.

Mark kayaked all the way across the lake and back.

The water was cold!!

The boys had fun spotting fish in the lake.

Dax cracks me up. He pulled up his swimming suit.

Dad and Seth had a race on the kayaks.

It was a beautiful day on the lake.

We had so much fun playing games.

We ate a lot of s'mores. Well, the boys did.
