Montana Day 21

Seth takes a lot of photos when he gets to use Mom's phone.

We started out in eastern Montana. We ended up in western Montana. There was only one interesting moment, and we didn't even take a picture of it. We were traveling into a terrible headwind. It had been raining most of the morning, and though we were finally through the storm, the wind was awful.

Suddenly, Dad spied a turtle right in the middle of the road. He turned around and drove back to the spot where it sat, stranded and in danger. As Dad opened the door of the brand new van to rescue the turtle, the wind ripped the door out of his hand. A terrible ripping crunch made Mom scream as the door bent backward.

Hurriedly, Dad pulled the door hard against the wind and turned the van back facing the gale. The door wouldn't shut. The alarms on the van were going off. Mom was ready to call the hotline as we were stranded in the middle of Montana, unable to close the door of our brand new van.

Dad looked closely at the damage and decided the door could be gently pushed down and in. It closed! The alarms stopped. He climbed in a back door (they couldn't rip off in that wind) and over the seat. We made it into Glacier and saw the cousins late. The new van needed a repair. And that turtle? For all we know, he's still sitting there. We didn't even take picture.

We did stop by this waterfall near Glacier on the way in to see the cousins.
