Montana Day 23

Jonny made crepes from breakfast. Since it was Grandma’s birthday, most of us had cards and small gifts. Stephanie’s card had an ultrasound photo of her new baby. No one, not grandma or even the Ferlan kids saw that coming! There were a lot of tears and congratulations.

Then we drove into Glacier National Park. Unfortunately, there isn’t a lot that you can do in the park in June as the roads are all snowed in. But the kids got the Junior Ranger booklets, and we did an Animal Encounters ranger program. Then we drove to the end of the road, which in this case, was the Trail of the Cedars trailhead. There were hundreds of people, and they’d turned the entire campground into a parking lot. We found a pull-through slot and put all five our vehicles in it. Then we walked the trail. The trail is a wide boardwalk, but with two dozen people on it, we were quite a group. We took a lot of pictures and read the signs. Grandma made it the entire way on her 70th birthday.

We spotted a moose through the trees as we entered the park.

All of the cousins did the Junior Ranger program.

We love the water color in Glacier.

Hiking together is so fun.

These two area always together.

It's nice to have someone to talk family pics with you all the time!

This is such a pretty trail.

After lunch in our campground parking spot, we drove back down to Lake Mcdonald. We turned in the Junior Ranger booklets and enjoyed all the pullouts. We had a boat ride on the lake at four o’clock. It was a narrated tour, but mostly the kids giggled together and the adults switched seats to talk together. It was even a bit rainy at times, but we were covered, so we barely noticed.

A bunch of deer walked right through the campground.

Picnic lunch!

There were lots of great stops.

We're always glad when Bob is around for vacations.

Our kids love exploring with the cousins.

Glacier is amazing!

Our boat

Dax borrowed someone's sunglasses. He looks pretty cool!

Once again, the water color is lovely.

It was windy on the top!

Dad and Seth hung out on top a lot!

Mom made rice and chicken back at the house. Then the kids watched a movie. We needed to turn in early so we could head into the park early in the morning.

Happy Birthday Grandma!
