Fun School Stuff

We had a busy few months with school adventures.

Mark and Dax both participated in the Storytelling Festival at their school. Mark told the story, "Out by a Hare," which is a baseball tale that Dad often tells, so it fit him perfectly. Dax created his own story, called "Ka Chunk," and we were so proud of his creativity.

They both did extremely well. Both Mark and Dax were chosen to represent their grades in the school competition. Two children were chosen from each grade. They were the only two boys who were chosen to move on. Dax told in front of the kindergarten through 3rd grade, and did amazing. He was awarded 2nd place! Mark told in front of the 4-6 grades and was awarded 3rd place. They were both excited because the prize was a new book!
Dax is an excellent story teller.
Dax was the only boy in 1-3 grade.
Mark was also the only boy to tell a story in upper grades.
Mark did a great job with his Hare story!
We took the boys to ice cream to celebrate!
Mark and Dax also participated in the Research Recital. This year they decided to work on the project together. They chose to research the Amazon River, and they worked very well together. Mark and Dax created a powerpoint and practiced their presentation over and over. At the final presentation, the Lehi City Mayor and principal were two of the reviewers. They were asked many questions, but answered them very well. We were so proud of them and happy they enjoyed working together.
Dax and Mark were great presenters. I videoed instead of taking pics.
These are the presenters and reviewers in the morning session. Our Mayor is on the left, and principal on the right.
Mark and Dax had fun working together.
This was shortly after the Olympics!
We are so proud of our boys!
Mark had a large project at school called the Wax Museum. He chose someone in history who helped make a difference or change the world. He really wanted to do a baseball player, but was sick the day that students chose their person, so all the baseball players were gone. Mark chose Franklin Delano Roosevelt, whom he admires just like his mom and dad. He researched FDR, wrote a paper, created a poster, and made-up a 30 second speech. On the day of the Wax Museum, he dressed like FDR, and every time that someone stopped by and pushed the button, Mark gave his speech. He did a wonderful job and looked the part of FDR quite well.
We borrowed the wheelchair from the office!
All of these boys were presidents in his class!
In March we always have a day off from school, so while Dad had to attend meetings at work, we adventured all day. First, we stopped at Krispy Kreme for free donuts for good grades. Then we visited the Bean Museum that had a fun Titano-Boa Exhibit. The boys were exhibited to see the huge snake, but Mom was horrified! We also stopped at the BYU dino museum. Although it's a small museum, they have such great fossils. We rounded out the day with a trip to the dentist. Everyone had clean teeth and received great reports. We had a great day together.
Krispy Kreme donuts are the best!
Seth's face is classic!
Help them!
We always enjoy the Bean Museum.
Dax makes a pretty great dinosaur.
Mom had a fun time with her boys.
They love watching movies on the ceiling at the dentist. Lucky (spoiled) kids!
