Today we finally did slow down. We left for the LA Temple to do baptisms about 9 o'clock. It is an hour drive to the temple, and our appointment was at 10. We had a really nice time at the temple. We spent another hour in the Visitor Center talking to the missionaries and walking through the displays.

One of the senior missionaries had the boys close their eyes and choose a Book or Mormon as a prediction for where they will serve their mission. Seth got Russian. |
 |
Dax got Urdu, which is spoken in Pakistan and India. |
It was almost noon when we finished with the temple, so we changed clothes and stopped at a hole-in-the-wall taco shop. No one spoke much English, and the tacos were really amazing. All of us ate pretty well, though Seth did order french fries.
We went to the La Brea Tar Pits after lunch. This ended up being such an interesting stop. We learned a bunch about all of the bones found here including hundreds of dire wolves. The museum was great and then we walked around outside to see the tar pits that are still bubbling there.

Next, we wanted to see the Hollywood area. This took us to the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Our boys don't really love cities, and this part of the city was particularly sketchy. Still, we made them walk, mostly against their will, through many of the stars. We found the Beatles stars, but mostly it was hot and the sun was merciless. There was a lot going on down by the Chinese Theater, but we didn't quite get that far due to the complaints. We only saw the Hollywood Sign from the freeway in the hazy distance.

Mom loved those purple trees all around Los Angeles. |

Seth loves Han Solo and Indiana Jones. |

Dad's favorite is and always will be Paul McCartney! |
After that, we drove back to the hotel. The boys watched some TV while the adults took short naps. Then we grabbed dinner at In-N-Out and spent the rest of the night in the hotel pool.
