Spring Break Quarantine Edition

Our friend took a front porch photo for us. We had fun creating our theme, and she stood in the road and took it.
Our Spring Break plans were completed cancelled due to the Covid-19 virus that was spreading throughout the world. We had intended to go to Death Valley, Valley of Fire, Las Vegas, and Snow Canyon for Spring Break, but that was not to be. Most of the week was spent at home, but Mom asked everyone what they wanted to do and she was able to meet all their demands.

Mom wanted to see the blossoms at the capitol (covered later in this post).
Dad wanted to hike Dark Trail (see next post).
Mark wanted to go on a bird drive (covered later in this post).
Dax wanted to go fishing (see April Fun post coming soon).
Seth wanted to jump on the trampoline as a family (no pictures were taken, but this did happen).

We went on a day trip and had three adventures in one. We began by visiting Farmington Bay Waterfowl Management Area. It is now one of our favorite birding spots. We had so much fun driving through this area and we spotted a ton of birds. There was a lot of water right at first where we saw wood ducks, egrets, black crowned-night herons, cormorants, lots of ducks, grebes, and many more. Our favorite thing was when the coots crossed the road in front of the van.
We were so excited to see a wood duck. They are very rare!
There were lots of little pied billed grebes swimming around.
The yellow headed blackbirds are loud!
We loved watching the egrets feathers stick up in the breeze.
Red winged blackbirds are always one of the first signs of spring.
We saw a ton of Great Blue Herons.
We also walked around for a bit. There were a few trails to explore. There is also an island that you drive to and it has some great views of the bay. Dad spotted a bald eagle far out in the water. It was an amazing sighting, and we were surprised to see the bald eagle in April.
How did Dad even see that? This picture is taken with Mom's super zoom lens.
The boys love using their binoculars for bird watching.
We were so happy to be outside, and there was no one else around.
Mom and her boys!
Like father, like son.
We love how well he can blend in. It's so cool!
We can always hear pheasants long before we see them.
The coots are so cute crossing the road.
After our fun time on Mark's bird drive, we headed to the Utah State Capitol Building to see the cherry blossoms. Mom wants to come every year, but we always have soccer and baseball and we never make it, so this was the perfect year to come. There were a few people, but not many. We enjoyed seeing all the monuments and learning about them from Dad and Dax who had taken a field trip to the Capitol. The blossoms were beautiful and Mom was so happy.
Dad was excited to take Mom to the blossoms!
The trees were beautiful! And they wrap all the way around the building!
Mom was in heaven!!
It was a beautiful day to be outside.
The boys loved talking about the memorials.
Dad and Mom took a bunch of different pictues in different locations, and this is the best one.
Kids taking pictures aren't always the best!
We ended our day by eating at Hires Big H. Mom and Dad had eaten a hamburger from Hires at the Jazz game and they both loved it. Since they are a carhop, their restaurant was still open so we could order and eat in our car. Everyone declared the food delicious, even Seth, which is a miracle. The boys keep asking to go back!
We were all excited for lunch!
