Spring Break: Tooele Adventure

Dad really wanted to try a hike in Tooele, so we planned a day trip and headed out West for our second Spring Break adventure. We left pretty early so we could fit everything in. We began our day by hiking Dark Trail. This trail was easy and it was nice to get outside and hike. We saw a woodpecker, deer, and a few hawks. We didn't see too many people on the trail, so that was good, too. The trail is probably amazing in summer or fall, so we might have to come back and check it out again.
Everyone was happy to be out on a trail!
This trail has trees that cover the trail most of the way.
We thought this rock formation was super cool!
Seth likes to be silly in pictures right now.
After the hike, we stopped at Dairy Delight for lunch. Mom ordered the Buffalo fries and Dax loved them as much as she did. Everyone enjoyed their food, so it was a win!

Next we headed out to Horseshoe Springs Wildlife Management Area. It is further west than Tooele, and it is a spring that was along the Oregon trial. The spring is actually shaped like a Horseshoe and the water is cool blue. There were a couple other people there and they were putting their feet in, so our kids decided they need to do that, too! The spring stay a little bit warmer, but they aren't a real hot springs.
We thought the blue water was gorgeous!
Seth was the most excited to hop in the water!
They all tromped around for awhile holding their pants up!
We ended our Tooele adventure with a stop at Wonderstone quarry. On the way there, we stopped to grab a drink at the small gas station in Vernon. The boys were so excited that he had Big Red, but Seth got the real winner with a coconut soda that was delicious. The rock quarry was the busiest spot that we had been to, so we didn't stay long. We found some fun striped rocks and then headed home. We made it in time for dinner.
Everyone was excited for soda!
Just a few of the cool rocks that we found!
