Baseball

Our lives turned to baseball this year. It was a lot of baseball, too! Mark tried out for the freshman summer team. With competition from his old rivals, Lehi Baseball and the Vipers, it was a tough year to make it. He and three of his Scrapper teammates made the A-team, with most of the rest on the B-team. It was quite an accomplishment, and Mark really enjoyed the higher level of play. The team is still working to come together, though. Apparently, parents don't cheer high school baseball, and of course, there are politics involved. Worst of all, Mark broke his arm and missed the middle four weeks of the season, but when he was on the field, he was great. He hit and fielded well, leading off most of the time. We'll see if he makes the spring team, too.

Mark is excited to play for Lehi.

Mark did finish out the season with the Scrappers and played very well.

He hit a few homeruns, pitched a lot, and made amazing plays in the infield.

Dax continued his journey on the Barons. He really loves this team, so it has been a bit hard to watch some of the players go different directions. He lost two of his good friends who moved and went to another team, leaving him with just five of the players from his original Curve team. The Barons had good success, though. They really enjoyed the summer league in Orem, and they dominated it, losing only one game in route to becoming champions. Dax got to play every position but first base. Though he isn't a regular pitcher or catcher now, he still enjoys his time as a member of the battery.

Dax only pitched a few times, but did amazing both times!

Champions in the Heber tournament.

This was the last tournament with this team before a few people moved away.

Dax's team also won their Monday night league.

We sure love these baseball players.

Seth also took a turn at baseball. He tried out for an elite team and made it. We were happy because it was the Barons 8u Team. He loved wearing matching uniforms with Dax! Seth played really well, mostly in the outfield and at second base, just like his big brothers. He had several amazing hits including a few doubles. We watched him pitch and give up only one run in his best outing, and that was unearned. Seth's team was really successful and won several trophies, too. Seth's favorite was the championship ring he got from the Tournament of Champions. To even qualify for this tournament, you had to win another tournament. When they won it, Seth was awarded a Super Bowl-type ring, which sits proudly in a homemade trophy case on his dresser. In the long run, we decided that this level of competion wasn't the best for Seth, so we are moving him to the rec league next summer, but he really enjoyed his stint with the Barons.

Seth loves playing baseball and lost a tooth at one of his games.

Seth was excited when he got to play 1st or 2nd.

It was a great opportunity for him to play with these kids.

Seth had a great coach and learned a lot.

His team won the 4th of July tournament.

This trophy was a big one.

Seth loved playing with Emerson. He was so kind to Seth.

Seth is most proud of this ring.

Tournament of Champions is a big deal.

Though baseball never stops, we are glad it slowed down enough to allow us to take a vacation or two and get back to school. It really was a fun season!
