Eclipse

The annular eclipse was passing over Utah. Lehi wasn't going to fall in totality, so we decide last minute to wake up early and drive to Fillmore, which was the closest town where there would be totality. We were not the only ones with this idea!

We hit a little bit of traffic on the way down that added about 30 minutes to the drive. We arrived about 15 minutes before totality. So we parked on the side of the road near a gas station and hung out to watch.

Eclipse glasses or bust!

We couldn't believe that it felt like dusky once it hit totality. We knew that it did that for the total solar eclipse a few years ago, but we didn't remember that from the last annular eclipse we saw in beaver before Seth was born. Here are some retro pictures.

Look at these cute boys with their eclipse glasses. 2012.

This was the ring of fire we saw that day through my old school camera.

After the totality, we hurried and packed up so we could beat the traffic. We slowed a little bit, but only about 30 minutes. The boys were able to watch the rest of the eclipse as we drove home. It was a fun last second trip!

Mark held the glasses over the lens, Mom held the camera. It was tricky stuff!

But we got one amazing picture of the ring of fire!

Worth the drive!
