Fall Sports

Sports are a lot simpler around here since we moved to strictly rec ball. Fall is pretty easy. Dax and Seth still ref soccer games, but they get to choose when and how often they want to do games. Still, we did have a few fun sports this Fall.

Seth played tennis again. Last time he won the Championship in doubles. This time, his coach moved him to first singles. This meant a lot of tough matches, but Seth still did really well. He and Dad practiced more, and his serve became a real weapon. On the final day, he ended up taking third place in the tournament. He lost one match in a tie-breaker that was tied at 5-5 before the other guy won the final two points. These experiences are good for Seth, and he is becoming a great tennis player. His interest is especially exciting for Dad!

Seth loves tennis!

He improved his serve so much this year.

We loved watching him play!

He says tennis is his favorite spots now.

And he is also really great at fun pictures!
One of Seth's matches was in the shadow of the new Lindon temple.

Seth's friend, Blake, also decided to put together a comp baseball team just to see how they'd do. It turned out to be a pretty tough league. All those Fall baseball kids play a hundred games per year, and Seth was our only player with super-league experience. We lost each game, but the margins kept getting slimmer. Seth pitched and caught and played shortstop. We were proud of him for being a leader and having a good attitude even through all those losses. Best of all, he and Blake had a lot fun.

Seth loves to play baseball with friends.

I took very few pictures this year.

Seth was a great leader on the team.

It was a great group of coaches and boys.

The attitude is mostly funny, but sometimes not.
Sometimes baseball games have the best views.

Mark tried something new this year. His friend Nathan, who happens to be Blake's older brother, asked Mark to play flag-football. We've banned our boys from knocking their heads together because they are going to need those brains for college, but flag-football seemed okay. It turned out that Mark is a natural. He scored four touchdowns in his first game, and that wasn't an outlier. He was one of the best players on his team, racking up interceptions and touchdowns. They won almost every game, losing once to a team of huge guys that looked like college kids. In the tournament, they lost in the semi-final to that same team and took third place. Mark loved this new opportunity, though. He's sure to play again.

I didn't take hardly any pics of Mark.

Mark was the standout player for sure!

Such a great group of friends!!
