Christmas Sing

Dad grew up hating the Christmas program his family did every year, which consisted of his siblings sharing their talents on the piano, clarinet, or guitar, and him with an old robe and towel wrapped around his head standing next to a fake crib with Amy's doll Charley acting as the baby Jesus. The only good thing good about it was the singing.

So, we decided to do that program with just the singing. Dad made song books that can be reused every year that contain 35 of his favorite Christmas carols, songs, and hymns. Then we invited over four families from our ward. We are blessed to have an awesome pianist (Natalie) with us at all times.

There ended up being 29 people packed into our living room, which required all ten of our children's chairs, our kitchen chairs, and couches, chairs, and even the stairs. We were delighted that the resident guitar teacher brought his guitar and strummed along to many of the songs.

We sang for nearly an hour and then headed upstairs for wassail, hot chocolate, and homemade cinnamon rolls.

We've done this before with family, but we've never tried with friends. This is definitely a new tradition that we will carry on for years to come!
It was pretty packed in our living room!
Well, everyone is smiling, so that is a good sign....
Count carefully: 28 people in there not counting Natalie, who took the picture.
