The Pinewood Derby is always a big deal in Cub Scouts, and this year we were lucky enough to have two boys racing cars. Dax's birthday was the following week, so they invited him to participate since he was going to be the newest scout. Mark has a few months left, so he is racing for his second time.
Both boys designed their cars on paper, and we begged Uncle Glen to help us cut the cars to the right shape. They sanded the cars down, painted them, and added a few stickers. We like our boys to do the work themselves, even though we might not have the fastest cars in the race. They were so proud of their cars once Dad had helped add some weight.
Dax designed a basketball car which was really cool. Mom wasn't sure about his plan, but Dax was able to pull it off and he ended up winning Sportiest Car at the Pinewood Derby.
